Jaqs Clarke lives above an estuary on the edge of a forest,
the environment that inspired this book. The estuary is on the
outskirts of a village called Titirangi, which translates in Te Reo
Maori to mean “the fringe of heaven”. Titirangi is on the edge
of a big city, in a country on the edge of the map, and so her
publishing company Circadia Press has the byline
‘Books from the edge of the world’.
Jaqs has a PhD in the Philosophy of Architecture
from the University of Auckland, New Zealand
This is her first children’s book.
